Introduction
So far in this sermon series on Taking the Plunge, we have talked about personality and sharing one’s life story with one another as members of the family of God here in the church. They say you can tell a lot about a people by the things they carry in their wallet. I have some photos in mine. Here’s one of me in 1972 with beard and long hair. It reminds me of the Jesus freak years when I became a Christian. I also have pictures of my wife and my three kids, the ones closest and dearest and most meaningful to my life.
A few credit cards and a little bit of cash demonstrate concerns and worries as well as blessings and provisions I have when it comes to money. A few business cards often come in handy when trying and wanting to connect with people. My day-timer calendar (I’m still doing paper-pencil planning) is filled with dates and appointments that define my use of time and priority.
Today’s Bible passage on the parable of the rich fool calls us to consider what’s most important in our lives. What is your passion? What urges you on to keep life going?
